So I got a haircut last week and it’s short. Really short. Much shorter than I thought it was going to be, and I found myself wondering who that old lady in the mirror was. Yikes. It’s been a long time since I wanted to cry over my hair (it was hard to type that), but there I was … wanting not only to cry, but to move to Tibet. What’s a woman to do? (I mean, besides get over herself.)
Hmmm … what’s that saying, “When life hands you lemons, add vodka,” right? Well, when life hands you a bad hair day, how about adding vodka to your Truffle Fudge Brownies? And a little Kahlua couldn’t hurt, so I whipped up a batch of HQ Team Member Tammy Cozad’s White Russian Brownies. My hair looked a whole lot better after a pan of these. (Ok, I didn’t just put the vodka in the brownies.)
And really, after a lot of chocolate and a weekend to adjust my attitude, I think the hair’s going to be ok. I’m also thinking we should change our tagline to “The food you love, the therapy you deserve.”

White Russian Brownies
- Yield: 9 Servings
- Cook: 25-30 mins
So I got a haircut last week and it’s short. Really short. Much shorter than I thought it was going to be, and I found myself …
Ingredients
- 2 (3oz.) pkgs. cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vodka
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- eggs
- 6 Tbsp. butter softened, divided
- 1 Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix
- 1/4 cup Kahlua®
Instructions
- Cream together first 4 ingredients, 1 egg and 2 tablespoons butter; set aside. Combine Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix, remaining eggs, remaining butter and Kahlua; spread half the brownie mixture into greased 8 x 8 baking pan. Add cream cheese mixture and use a knife to swirl together; top with remaining brownie mixture. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. Makes 9 servings.
!Tips & Hints
•Before baking, it’s always best to have all ingredients at room temperature when you’re ready to begin.
•When wallowing in self-pity over your hair, you likely haven’t planned for the above. It’s ok …they will turn out anyway! Use your microwave to soften the cream cheese and butter.
•The brownie batter is very thick – mine didn’t “swirl” a lot with the white batter, and putting the layer over the top was kind of clunky – but they turned out fine!
•These took more than 15 minutes to mix up, but this time investment is part of your therapy!
•I baked mine 40 minutes in a glass pan at 350°.
- Cooking Method: Bake

Ooh these sound really good I think they would be good for any therapy and I am sure we could come up with a lot of them just to make these!!!!!
Jane, I love your hair!! It is addorable! Oh and I love the recipe for the White Russian Brownies!! It’s like a drink in a chocolate bath!!
Ahh…a drink in a chocolate bath…take me away!!
Funny…I engaged in a little Truffle Fudge Brownie therapy this evening too! They sure do make you feel better.
the mix and bake time is just the right amount of time it takes to get over yourself.
After a few Truffle Fudge Brownies chunked into vanilla ice cream and drizzled with Creamy Caramel Sauce, I could have NO hair and still be happy! This product is phenominal, to say the least. AND, so is your hair, Jane! LOVE IT! (I’m biased … I have the same cut.) Can’t wait to make this recipe!
Who knew a bad day could turn out so good?
mmm, I think I will be trying these very soon, they sound amazing!
I recommend making this recipe using Vanilla Vodka! Talk about taking them to the next level! You’ll be saying “what hair?”
Jane love your haircut! Yes, these brownies have amazing medicinal qualities…in fact I always say, Chocolate is cheaper than PROZAC! My family knows that the surest way to get what they want…get me some good chocolate! These brownies work wonders, now with this recipe OH MY WORD, Tammy is a genius!
Well Jane I love your hair both ways. Hope it’s “growing on you”. Last week I was at one of my Tastefully Simple Parties and I got a call from my 16 year old. I always leave my phone on vibrate for emergencies and my family knows not to call unless it is an emergency. So I excused myself in the middle of the party and answered the phone. “Mom can Sarah and I use a box of Truffle Fudge Brownies” “Robin I am in the middle of a party – emergencies only” “Mom it is an emergency, we are really hungry for them and you will get home too late”. SMILE! You bet I shared that with my party guests!!!! And they made little TFB Muffins filled with an incredible Peanut Butter Sauce – They didn’t look pretty but I ate three just for good measure. Mmmm! As soon as I get the recipe I will share it with you – it was incredible AND even though I didn’t sample TFB at my party, I sold Three!
Rose – I think you should have your daughter call you during EVERY party!! LOL.
Jane, your hair looks adorable! I am in need of some therapy tonight~
