Share YOUR Strength

My childhood was a little chaotic. My parents were very young when they married and had me, and we had some struggles in those early years. We moved frequently, I went to a lot of different schools and there was sometimes uncertainty in our lives. In spite of this, we were never hungry – there was always food for our table even in the worst of times, and I was very lucky to have a strong support system in my grandparents and extended family.

So when I heard Share Our Strength – an organization working to end childhood hunger in the U.S. – say that there are 17 million children at risk of hunger in this country, I was shocked. We faced many issues when I was a kid, but I can’t imagine what it would be like to go to bed hungry night after night. To worry, as a child, whether we would have food for the weekend because my primary source of meals was the school lunch program. To perhaps have to be in search of my own food.

Share Our Strength’s highest priority is to make sure that every child in America gets the nutritious food he or she needs to learn, grow and thrive. Tastefully Simple is proud to partner with this amazing organization, and we have a new product this season to help support the cause. For every box of Classy Chocolate Pound Cake Mix we sell, $1 is donated to Share Our Strength. We have donated nearly $370,000 to Share Our Strength through product sales in the past two years.

Our featured recipe today is for Classy Chocolate Oh My Stars! Cake, and it was created by HQ team member Sara Gronholz. She is a genius!

I hope you will give this cake a try, and remember – every time you do, a donation is made to Share Our Strength.

Together, we CAN share our strength and end childhood hunger!
